Pax Autocratica System Requirements

The official Pax Autocratica minimum and recommended Windows PC requirements, plus practical CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, DirectX, and display checks.

Pax Autocratica’s official Steam page lists Windows 10 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 11, and 40 GB of available storage at both requirement tiers. The processor and graphics targets differ. These are developer-listed specifications, not a guarantee of one frame rate at every colony size, battle, driver, or display resolution.

The minimum graphics row unusually includes separate 1080p and 1440p examples on Steam. Preserve that wording instead of reducing the 1440p pair to a new recommended tier.

Compare the whole machine, not one part

Matching the GPU while falling below 16 GB RAM or using an unsupported 32-bit environment does not meet the listed baseline. Likewise, a stronger graphics card cannot guarantee smooth colony simulation if CPU load, background processes, storage, or temperature limits intervene.

Use the actual model, not only a family label. Laptop and desktop parts with similar names can have different power and cooling behavior. Confirm the active GPU in Windows and the driver control panel; a game launched on an integrated adapter may perform far below the listed hardware.

Plan storage beyond the listed 40 GB

Steam’s 40 GB value is available-space guidance, not a statement that every installed file totals exactly 40 GB. Leave additional working room for downloads, patch staging, shader data, saves, and Steam verification. Installing to a nearly full volume can complicate updates and troubleshooting.

Keep rotating manual saves and preserve automatic backups. The save-anytime and Steam Cloud features shown on the store do not replace local backup discipline during a fast-moving Early Access period.

64-bit WindowsConfirm Windows 10 or a current compatible Windows installation and current updates.
16 GB memoryClose memory-heavy background work before diagnosing a mission or loading crash.
Dedicated GPUVerify the active adapter, VRAM class, stable driver, and display resolution.
Storage headroomKeep more than the listed requirement free for Steam and Early Access updates.

Treat Deck and Linux as separate questions

The current store lists Windows as the native platform. It does not establish native Linux support or a positive Valve Steam Deck compatibility result. Those environments use separate status pages because Proton, SteamOS, drivers, controls, and virtual keyboard behavior add conditions that this hardware table does not cover.

Read Steam Deck Status or Linux Status before treating the Windows requirements as a compatibility promise.

Recheck after a store or performance update

The developers identified performance, crashes, and loading as Early Access priorities. Revisit the official Steam requirements if the store changes, and use Performance Settings to isolate graphics load. For closing or startup failures, follow Crash Fixes rather than lowering random settings simultaneously.

For an upgrade decision, tie the purchase to the measured constraint. If lowering resolution produces a large improvement, graphics capacity is likely relevant to that scene. If it barely affects a busy colony while simulation activity changes the result, a faster GPU alone may not solve the problem. Memory pressure, temperatures, background work, and storage health can also distort a short benchmark.

Run a representative colony view and one representative expedition before declaring the machine comfortable. Record resolution, settings, frame cap, and the most demanding observed moment. The official tiers describe entry hardware; the test describes your preferred experience on a specific system.

Photosensitive players should also note the store’s flashing-lights warning. Performance tuning that increases effects clarity does not remove that accessibility notice. Use personal safety requirements and the options exposed by the current game when deciding whether a configuration is suitable.
